Who We Are

Quail Ridge Specimen Trees is a family-owned nursery established by Dr. Dan Struve, Professor Emeritus, Department of Horticulture & Crop Science at The Ohio State University.  Located in southwest Ohio with easy access to Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus,  QRST specializes in wholesale container production of locally-adapted native trees and shrubs for landscape and reclamation/restoration purposes.

Our Expertise

The founder of QRST nursery, Dr. Dan Struve, is Professor Emeritus of The Ohio State University. After serving as a faculty member for over 30 years in the Horticulture and Crop Science department at The Ohio State University, he now applies his passion of growing genetically superior trees to his nursery venture. Dr. Struve is affiliated with the Chadwick Arboretum, Morton Arboretum, and the Lower Olentangy Arboretum.

Dr. Struve’s areas of expertise include developing efficient water and nutrient use, production systems for woody plants, transplant survival and establishment, seed germination, breeding and selection of woody plants. Dr. Struve’s knowledge enables superior production of native trees and shrubs with an emphasis on strong central leaders and exceptional root systems.
